Biography: Joao M. Costa Antunes

Originated from Lisbon, Portugal with a civil engineering background, Mr. João Manuel Costa Antunes has been a veteran in serving the Macau community since 1983.

In 1988, Mr. Costa Antunes was named the Director of Macau Government Tourist Office leading a team of dynamic tourism professionals. Under his leadership, tourism in Macau has really taken off and continues to flourish. Mr. Costa Antunes is also heavily involved in a lot of cultural and tourism related organizations, and has years of experience in organizing the Macau Grand Prix. In addition, he had the opportunity to organize a unique event – the official Handover Ceremony in 1999 – while he was the coordinator of the Handover Ceremony Coordination Office.
